Training Programmes
On the 15th April 2004, "The
Next Steps - The Future shape of Foundation, Specialist and General
Practice Training Programmes" was published.
This document builds on two previous documents - "Unfinished
Business" and "Policy
Statement on Modernising Medical Careers" and represents a major
step forward in implementation by:
- Defining the standards for
foundation training
- Discusses how doctors should be
assessed against them
- Explains the relationship between
the Foundation Programme and the regulatory framework for basic
medical education, specialist and general practice training.
