SpR Training Days
Introduction
The paediatric SpR training programme for 2006-7 has been designed
based on trainees’ evaluation of previous sessions, a structured
questionnaire to all trainees and advice from newly appointed
consultants.
The clinical sessions in the mornings will be of general paediatric
interest, and will cover areas within the RCPCH general paediatric
syllabus for higher specialist trainees that are unlikely to be
specifically covered elsewhere.
The non-clinical sessions in the afternoons are targeted at the
knowledge, skills and attitudes required as a consultant.
The days will be co-ordinated by an allocated final year trainee,
and guidelines for co-ordinating SpRs are found at the end of this
brochure. The training day in May will be held jointly with child
psychiatry SpRs.
The Southwest Regional Training Committee has agreed that
attendance at these training days is compulsory for all general year
3, 4, 5 trainees, and highly recommended for all grid trainees. The
cost will be £180 a year for 6 days or £50 a day, including lunch and
refreshments.
All sessions will be held at the Centre for Child and Adolescent
Health in Bristol, with the exception of the joint day with Year 1 & 2
in March. The days will start with coffee at 9.30 a.m. and finish at
4.00 p.m. Lunch will be provided.
