Guidelines for trainees co-ordinating training days
The aims of having a co-ordinating SpR for these sessions are to
provide:
- Opportunity as a group representative to tailor the teaching to
our needs.
- Opportunity as individuals to gain experience in education
planning.
- Opportunity as individuals to gain experience in organising and
chairing education sessions.
Administration
Availability of contributors has already been confirmed and their
contact details will be available from the administrator. Refreshments
and lunch will have been arranged.
Educational planning
The use of active teaching methods such as case scenarios, problem
solving, group interactive exercises, is encouraged. Opportunities for
interprofessional sessions are also encouraged.
Suggested activities of the co-ordinating SpR:
- Contact contributors and together confirm specific topic areas
to be covered
- Identify aims and learning objectives for each session
- Choose appropriate teaching methods
- Liaise with administrator to ensure space and equipment
availability
- Provide administrator with a rough timetable at least 3 weeks in
advance
- Be responsible for the introduction and chairing of all parts of
the session
Evaluate the session using standard evaluation sheet, available
