Congratulations on your allocation to the Severn Foundation School,
for Foundation Programmes beginning August 2008.
The next stage in the process is to identify your programme
preferences via the online application system at
www.foundationprogramme.nhs.uk. All Severn programmes detailed on
the national application system are available as a
Programme
List for ease of reference.
You will be allocated to programmes based on the highest score to
highest available preference. There are 287 programmes of linked F1
and F2 posts within the Severn Foundation School (excluding the
Academic Programmes, which were filled separately). YOU ARE
REQUIRED TO RANK ALL 287 PROGRAMMES IN ORDER OF PREFERENCE BY MONDAY
11 FEBRUARY 2008. If you have not ranked your preferences by this
time, you will be randomly allocated to a programme.

What type of
programmes are available?
Foundation Programmes in the Severn Foundation School are all two
years in duration. The F1 and F2 years are either three blocks of
four months, or four blocks of three months. |

Will there be
interviews?
No, we will not be using interviews. Successful applicants will be
allocated to programmes using the score by which they were
allocated to Foundation School. |

Do I need references?
Yes, you will need to supply details of two referees of
consultant/GP level who have been closely involved in your medical
training. References will not be scored, but if your application
is successful, they will be forwarded to the Trust to which you
are allocated. The taking up of references is a statutory
requirement of employment. |

announced?
January 2008 (allocation to Foundation School) and February 2008
(allocation to programme). |

When is Shadowing?
The Shadowing (Preparing for Professional Practice) course for
Bristol medical students will be 10 - 20 March 2008. Shadowing is
organised by Bristol Medical School, in association with the
Trusts. If you are not a Bristol student, you may be able to
negotiate an alternative Shadowing period with your F1 Trust. |

If I am not eligible
for F1, how do I apply for F2?
Applicants with limited or full registration with the GMC are
generally eligible for entry at F2 level. There may be a limited
number of ‘stand alone’ F2 posts available, which will be
advertised and filled directly by the Trusts. |
